Kilt wearing Scots
Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted. This last week has been crazy. On Friday afternoon the Italians arrived. Faheem, Rasmus, Marc and I decided to take the train to the airport in Copenhagen to meet the Italians. We timed our train about perfectly, so that it would arrive just about the same time the Italians would, but of course things don't always go as planned. First there were major delays at the main station in Copenhagen and then we weren't thinking properly and got off a stop to early. Luckily there was another train going in the same direction in ten minutes. We arrived at the airport just before the Italians showed up out of baggage claim. Once we had picked up the Italians we headed back on the train home. That night we went to a party at the school. Saturday, after sleeping in, we went to the school and had gym class. I know it's strange. Gym class on a Saturday? But, one of the two teachers who is in charge of the Danish/Italian exchange is a gym teacher, so our afternoon activity consisted of some aerobics and then dancing the lancier(old French/Danish traditional dance.) Monday the Italians went to Copenhagen with one of the Danish teachers. Three of us Danes were going to meet them in Copenhagen in the afternoon and take our Italians and go shopping with them. When we arrived in Copenhagen we couldn't get a hold of the teacher. Her mobile wasn't turned on, and the Italians whom we got a hold of said they were at the "big square." For those of you who know Copenhagen well, then you know this could be a large number of places in the town. After many expensive phone calls and running all through Strøget we found them. Tuesday was relatively relaxing with no major mishaps. I made Sloppy Joes and Rainbow Chip Cake for the Italians and they enjoyed it, which I enjoyed because they don't like Danish, so we were having difficulty feeding them.

Wednesday morning we got to sleep in a little and then headed to Copenhagen as a large group. All of the Danes and Italians. We were given a packet of paper that was a scavenger hunt for all of Copenhagen. After a couple of hours of museum searching with no avail we went shopping. All over Copenhagen were people in kilts. There were hundreds of Scottish dressed up for the Denmark vs. Scotland soccer match that was to be played that night. We went into McDonalds to catch a bite and it was packed with kilt wearing Scots. There was also a group of men wearing fancy blue suits and matching ties. I thought they were some type of business freaks, so Niclas from my class asked why they were all dressed alike. They said it was because they were from Scotland. That made a sense to us. They were a group of fans that dressed up fancy for the games. Whatever, we didn't care that much. And then a group of the guys in kilts asked if they could take their photos with the men in suits. We then asked one of the kilted men who the men in suits were. It turns out they were the younger players from the National Scottish team. And they were eating at McDonalds before the game. . . that might explain why Denmark won.
